Head Coach 10U Maroon
Coach Chris grew up in Minnesota where it was kind of unusual if you didn't play hockey and started at a young age when his Dad was involved in coaching some of his youth teams. Coach Chris went on to play in high school but a few injuries cut his playing short which led to following his Dad's footsteps and started to enjoy and share their passion for coaching Hockey.
He coached at various levels in youth associations as well as girls high school teams for over 27 years. Coach Chris quotes "It's been fun to watch a few of the players I coached as youth who now play in the NHL. My son, Tyler, started coaching with me and we worked with many highly skilled female high school players who have gone on to play in major college programs in the country. "
His parents spent winters in Mesa where he had a chance to visit often and loved it. His son Tyler decided to move here last year and shortly after, Coach Chris and his my wife, Vonnie, and their black lab Puck followed and now calls Arizona home. He and his wife Vonnie were married for 26 years. 15 years ago, his wife was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. She recently lost her battle with the disease in December 2018. He now volunteers with the ALZ foundation and run support groups for Early Onset Alzheimer’s.
