DYHA Jr. Sun Devils Elite to transition to the new Arizona State University Multipurpose Arena in 2022

TEMPE, Ariz. – The Board of Directors for Desert Youth Hockey Association and Oceanside Ice Arena are excited to announce Jr. Sun Devils Elite hockey and other arena programs will begin to transition to the new Arizona State University Multipurpose Arena during the 2022-23 season. DYHA and Oceanside will continue to provide updates as the transition schedule is developed. In the interim, all operations will continue without interruption at Oceanside Ice Arena - this includes all Jr. Sun Devil Elite and arena programs.

The new ASU Multipurpose Arena is on track to open in Fall 2022 and will be the premier ice and entertainment facility in the Valley. The two-sheet facility is home to ASU NCAA Men’s Hockey.

“This is an amazing and exciting time for DYHA and Oceanside programs as we look forward to a bright future of hockey excellence. Please join us in building this future,” said Sean Whyte, DYHA Board President.

Let us also celebrate over the next several months the great history of Oceanside Ice Arena, which has been hockey’s home in The Valley since 1974. The Arena has been the epicenter of hockey history in the Valley as the original practice home of the Phoenix Coyotes as well as hosting practices for many visiting NHL franchises.

Most recently, the Arena served as home ice for the ASU Sun Devils NCAA Men’s Hockey Team and played a major role in the evolution of the program, destined to be a national power. Perhaps most importantly, the Arena has hosted countless youth and adult hockey teams, leagues and events giving rise to lifelong friendships and memories.

The Arena will close its doors for the last time in March 2023, but its place in Arizona hockey history is forever established. Please join us in celebrating and saying goodbye to the grand old venue of Arizona hockey that is Oceanside Ice Arena.
